Coaching by Example
Life coaching is an exciting, ever evolving profession that has attracted many talented people. It's been my pleasure to introduce you to those who are doing great work in the industry. For the last few weeks, we’ve been featuring Noreen Sumpter, who according to one of her clients, is able to pinpoint positive things about people—things they may have forgotten themselves. The following concludes the interview.
BELLA: On your website, you make a point to say that you're continually working on your own development. How does this help you to be a better coach?
NOREEN: I am always working on myself by clearing my mental and emotional clutter. If I have things that trigger me I will work them out while being compassionate with myself. I’m always working at winning in my life. Trusting myself. Being responsible even when I do not want to be. Being in life in a positive manner that keeps me open and creative. Always learning reading and digging deeper. Realizing that there is no other ever. Finding time to be with me in a relaxing way. I mediate twice a day.
BELLA: What can clients expect during their first few sessions with you?
NOREEN: You get an opportunity to see yourself from all sides. You can expect compassionate, and honesty. I am not for the faint of heart. I do not have an agenda for you. You come to me and you work with your agenda that you have imprinted in you. I help you uncover it..
BELLA: In your opinion, what do you see as the future of the Life Coaching Profession?
NOREEN: Life coaching profession has an amazing future. I think that a lot of people come in thinking that it is easy. Life coaching is a state of being constantly present. It is allowing and being accepting of where we all are in the world. I think that many people will use life coaching to acquire results in their lives.
I think that the Coaching Profession is a very powerful source of support for people to be, do and have what it is they require. It is a very active process. That is grounded very much in the present. So, your past does not have to play any role in what you be, do or have in your life. What is wonderful about coaching is that it is not a need a should. It is a service that you really choose freely knowing that you can accomplish the desires with or without a coach. However, with a coach the process will be deeper, sweeter and manifest faster.
BELLA: Can you recommend two books that **everyone** should read?
NOREEN: The Power of Intention by Wayne Dwyer and The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
BELLA: What are you reading right now?
NOREEN: Power of Intention by Wayne Dwyer, Ask and it is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks, and lots of internet articles.
