Life is but a Dream

Life is but a Dream
What if someone told you that at this moment you were having a dream? That the words you were reading on this page were just an illusion, and that the real life was something that your soul was experiencing at this moment… like it was playing a video game and you were the star character.

The Toltec believes that humans are living in a dream. The dream is a world of illusion made by images of light, and the mind dreams when the brain is both asleep and awake. Don Miguel Ruiz – The Voice of Knowledge

In the ancient Hindu creation story, Brahma, the god of creation, found himself very bored. So he created the beautiful goddess, Maya. Maya knew of Brahma’s great boredom, and so she told him she knew of a very exciting game; a game in which he would surely find enthusiasm again.

First she told him to create the sun, moon, stars and planets. Then she told him to cover the planet with life; green and growing things, fruit trees, animals, seas and rivers. He was very pleased with his creation, but once again found himself bored. Maya then asked Brahma to create a being that was intelligent, creative and strong. This human being would appreciate Brahma’s beautiful creation. Maya then shattered Brahma into thousands of pieces, and she placed one small piece into each human being. She then told Brahma the object of the game was to find his way back to himself. Then she took his memory.

The Aborigines of Australia believe that what they “dream” during their dreamtime is more important than what happens in their “waking” life; that this waking life is a life lived in time, and is not the real life of their eternal self, which they return to after they die.

To awaken within the dream is our purpose now. When we are awake within the dream, the ego-created earth-drama comes to an end and a more benign and wondrous dream arises. This is the new earth. Eckhart Tolle – A New Earth

The book, A Course in Miracles, which has been one of the most widely read metaphysical books over the last 30 years, is based on the premise that this life is an illusion of a soul who has become disconnected from their Source.

When you become disconnected, or lost in this dream, you see a world that is frightening and fearful. When you feel connected to Source, you see a world that is beautiful, safe and friendly.

Every human being carries within them the divine spark of a sleeping god, and through understanding, compassion and forgiveness, this spark can awaken.

Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream, merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.
