Sowing Seeds
“This is good and pleases God our Savior who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man of Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men - the testimony given in it’s proper time.”
1 Timothy 2:3-6
Witnessing for Christ can be a hard thing to do. Where do I start and how can I follow through? If you’re a Christian and you’ve got Internet access, (which you obviously do because you couldn’t be reading this unless your friend printed it out for you) then you can practice witnessing for Jesus in a Christian chat room. Oh no, you say, those chat rooms are filled with all kinds of “weirdoes“. I tell you it’s exactly those “weirdoes” that need Christ. And there is no one better to demonstrate the love of Jesus than YOU.
What are the secrets to being a good witness of Jesus’ love? Well number one is to remember that God sends His soldiers wherever He deems fit. So don’t try to do anything you don’t feel led to do. Pray before you go and let the Lord lead you into the situation He wants you to go to. Second, never judge anyone by his or her screen name. Practice discernment. Don’t let your emotions run amok. It’s ok to feel passionate about our faith in Christ but realize that not everyone is going to feel the same. We are called to be examples of God’s redeeming love not to bash others simply because they don’t agree with all our views. Remember, acceptance doesn’t mean tolerance and respect always precludes love. You are not demonstrating love to someone you are disrespecting. Third, always check scripture before quoting and know what you are talking about before you interpret it. Sometimes you will encounter someone who seems so “evil” and “demonic“, remember underneath it there is a child of God crying out for love and redemption. We are the sowers of the seed only God can make someone grow. The work of the Spirit is evident in our lives by the fruit that we bear. Don’t resort to name calling or using foul language and when you are corrected in something don’t become self-righteous, be willing to be wrong and practice humbleness.
There are great and powerful miracles waiting to happen. Don’t hide behind fear and uncertainty. A Christian chat room can be a wonderful place to meet other believers and warriors for Christ. Some of the most powerful prayer moments have come in a chat room. I have seen people’s lives changed by some Christian reaching out and simply listening to someone else. I have heard powerful testimonies that have opened the eyes of unbelievers. Half the battle is won when you encounter someone who doesn’t believe in Jesus, they are in a Christian chat room looking for answers and we are there to provide an answer for the hope that we have. Building our confidence as spiritual ambassadors for Christ is a powerful tool to use and you can start right here on the Internet. Visit a Christian chat room and see the power of God right before your very eyes.
