Macaws are big, beautiful birds and they can make a marvelous pet - for the right person or family. The life expectancy of these large birds is similar to a human's life expectancy, so ownership of these birds should not be taken lightly.

A macaw can be very loud, although not all are. They need a lot of room just to flap their wings and if flight is allowed (as it should be) they can cover several feet in one or two flaps of the wings. Toys are a must and macaws can demolish large and expensive toys in just a few minutes. If you are thinking of having a macaw in your home, you should learn to make your own toys.
