New Year's Resolution - Your Tools

New Year's Resolution - Your Tools
There are a few items you'll need to make your new year's resolution more user friendly. Here's what they are, why you'll need them and how I suggest you use them.

We previously discussed three areas of your setting up process: Who; Why; and What. They each hold questions that you'll have to take your own personal inventory to discover the real answers to and test whether they boil down to being temporal or far reaching. Let's now look at the 'What' from a more practical standpoint.

What you're going to need:
Get a journal, notebook or something you designate for the purposes of your new year's resolution exclusively and something to write with. If you're more tech minded, and this works for you, you can use a mind mapping program, a digital journal or whatever else floats your boat. I'll give you one of the tools I use at the end of this article.

At the top of each page you're going to place the following:

Page 1: "My Vision"
Page 2: "My Blueprint/Road Map"
Page 3: "My Tools"

You can take this layout and apply it to any resolution you want to accomplish [it's not limited to your diet]:

Page 1
Page Title: My Vision
Body: My vision is to...
Write it down plainly. What are its details? - describe them in full color and detail..

Answer these questions:
What does your vision feel like?
What does it look like?
How are others effected by it? [it's not a typo I chose 'effected' because my vision will 'effect' those it touches.]
Why must the vision be accomplished through me? Why must I succeed?
Why is this vision alive?

As your vision unfolds and you get more detail, you may return to that page and modify, add to and/or tweak the statement, but I'm sure you get the picture. Articulating your purpose/vision is important because you need to see it from a real place for it to become a visceral experience.

Now go to page 2.

Page Title: My Blueprint/Road Map
Body: What direction do I need to go in to see my vision become a reality?

What are the directions you need to take in order to get from points A to Z?
What type of system do you have to have in place?

What does any of this have to do with a resolution for a new vegetarian/healthy diet!?

Go to page 3 and you'll see.

What are you going to need to make your journey successful and how are you going to use them?

Here's where it all comes together. Your resolution, whatever it may be, is or should be based on or anchored into your 'big picture'. When it is, you're able to place it into its proper perspective. You see it as one of the many tools you'll use to success-'fully' reach your destiny, but not as the destiny itself.

Here's how it works...

Look at your destiny as your mark and your tools [i.e. your new year's resolution, etc.] as the tasks that must be completed to reach your mark. Remember... they're merely the necessary steps you need to take, without a positive or negative attached to them, to get you closer to your mark.

Now let's look at it from the standpoint of your diet. Here's the scenario:

You discovered your purpose or an aspect thereof. You've isolated how you need to get there.
Now you want to get there in one piece, as sure as possible, healthy, alert, full of energy, etc. You want to be able to make the most of it avoiding as much downtime as possible. So you map out the best things you can do to support and enhance your process: best education; best diet; best exercise; best techniques; best support in every way you can contemplate.

You prepare and set your stage to get the best return on your investment. You take no shortcuts, instead you complete tasks on your list, your resolution being one of them, and you make it to your destiny. That's the role your diet plays in the whole scheme of things. It's to help you better accomplish your reason for being here. When you approach it from this standpoint you no longer need to use your will power... you simply have to make sure that you complete the tasks on your to do list. NO STRESS!

As promised, here's the online software I utilize when I need to brainstorm and map things out. I think you'll really love it.
