Professional tennis results for 2008 are in the record books. The season saw many new faces and a few familiar ones. Roger Federer lost the top ranking that he held for so long, and his reign on the Wimbledon grass was crushed by Rafael Nadal. Novak Djokovic won his first Grand Slam title and contended at all the majors. The Russian women swept Olympic medals and the Williams sisters each captured a Grand Slam singles title plus Olympic gold in doubles.
