Batter Fried Fruit Recipe

Batter Fried Fruit Recipe
Are you a lover of apple dumplings? Have a sweet tooth? Well I've got a recipe for you! A quick, easy to fix dessert that will have even the picky eaters snacking on apples or peaches! No, it's not low carb or fat free but if you are just looking for a great comfort food and aren't watching calories you are going to love this one! It's so simple, just dip apple or peach slices (or any fruit you would like) into this batter and deep fry until golden brown. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and enjoy!

I've thought about other varieties but haven't tried them yet. I'll let you know when I do.. but I bet even banana chunks dipped and deep fried would be delicious! Maybe with a chocolate drizzle and a little shaved chocolate.. turn it into a gourmet dessert to surprise your guests or family. We'll have to keep experimenting with this and see what comes up. Here is the basic recipe. Why not experiment in your own kitchen. I have a vision of three battered, deep fried banana chunks, topped with a drizzle of chocolate and fresh slices of strawberries and a few curls of shaved chocolate over all. How easy is that!

Batter fried Apples or Peaches

2 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/3 cup water
1/4 cup oil
1 egg

Cinnamon Sugar Mix
4 tsp cinnamon to 1 cup granulated sugar
Mix well and place in shaker with lid to keep fresh.

Heat 2 - 3 inches deep oil in large sauce pan over medium heat.
In a medium sized mixing bowl, combine all ingredients above except the cinnamon sugar mix. Slice and core the apples or peaches about 1/2 inches thick at widest part. Place the slices in the batter until ready to use.
When the oil starts frying a drop of batter immediately it is ready.
I use skewers to grab the fruit slices and place in the oil so I don't get burned.
These cook very quickly so turn as soon as they are golden browned on one side and cook the other until golden brown.
Immediately place them on papertowel lined plate with cinnamon sugar sprinkled on it. Sprinkle more of the cinnamon sugar on them as you get them out of the oil.

These are absolutely delicious!
