Night Of Destiny
Laylatul Qadr known as the Night of Destiny was one specific night on 27th Ramadan 13 BH (610 AD) when God took the soul of Mohamed to the farthest place of prostration, and placed the Quran within him.
Chapter 17, verse 1
Most glorified is the One who summoned His servant during the night, from the Sacred Masjid (Mecca) to the farthest place of prostration, whose surroundings we have blessed, in order to show him some of our signs. He is the Hearer, the Seer.
Nowhere in the Quran does God tell us that the Night of Destiny is an annual occurrence. And nowhere in the Quran does it state we will receive any extra credit for staying up all night praying. We are never told in the Quran that this particular night brings the granting of wishes by the Spirit and the angels on a yearly basis. The Night of Destiny was the night God gave Mohamed the Quran so he could share it with us all.
Chapter 44, verse 3
We have sent it down in a blessed night, for we are to warn.
Mohamed was taken to somewhere far away from Earth to the nearest place that God could come near to him. To where Paradise is located and on that night the whole place was overwhelmed as the Quran was revealed to Mohamed.
Chapter 53, verses 1 – 18
As the stars fell away, your friend was not astray, nor was he deceived. Nor was he speaking out of a personal desire. It was divine inspiration, dictated by the Most Powerful, Possessor of all authority, from His highest height, at the nearest horizon. He drew nearer by moving down, until He became as close as possible. He then revealed to His servant what was to be revealed. The mind never made up what it saw. Do you doubt what he saw? He saw him in another descent. At an ultimate point, where the eternal Paradise is located. The whole place was overwhelmed. The eyes did not waver, nor go blind. He saw great signs from his Lord.
People have a terrible habit of saying things that God does not say and practising things that God does not authorise. The Night of Destiny was one special night that only a few privileged human beings witnessed but we are blessed with the outcome of that night, the Quran, the message from God to all mankind.
The following verse tells us that the Night of Destiny is better than a thousand nights. The Night of Destiny was one night over fourteen hundred years ago and not every 27th night of Ramadan. Tradition and custom have made people follow hearsay rather than what God tells us in the Quran. But because the Muslim community begins to fast on different days around the world, then which is the correct night for the 27th of Ramadan? Conjecture is an enemy.
Chapter 97, verses 1-5
We revealed it in the Night of Destiny. How awesome is the Night of Destiny. The Night of Destiny is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein, by their Lord’s leave, with every command. Peaceful it is until the advent of dawn.
