A Letter from your True Self

A Letter from your True Self
Writing a letter from your True Self turned out to be one of the most powerful exercises on our Meeting your Self Retreat Weekend. Here I explain the process so that you can write your own letter and I share some excerpts from my letter, which I believe contains wisdom for others too.

If you would like to channel a letter from your True Self then find some time when you can be quiet and undisturbed. Sit with a pad of paper and a pencil on your lap. Take a few deep breaths and allow yourself to relax. Ask your Self to advise you on any issue. Try not to predict what will come through, just write the words as they come in stream of consciousness. Do not worry about spellings, neat writing, punctuation; you can write things up more neatly later, just write down what comes. Don’t read the message back until you have finished.

Your Self loves you. Your Self is as close to you as the back of your hand. You are not appealing here for any help outside of You, just taking the time to listen in to your own innate Wise One. The Self you are tuning into will have a quiet, loving voice that is kind even when correcting you. We also have a critical voice that scolds us and finds fault, often loudly and on a daily basis; this is not the voice of the True Self! If your letter is less than loving let go of it immediately and refuse to listen to that inner critic until it behaves more constructively! Intend you will listen to the voice of your True Self on a regular basis and you will notice a shift in your consciousness.

Here are some extracts from my own letter containing guidance that many of us could benefit from:

"Offer up your authentic Self; that is when you are in your power. Don’t try to be someone you are not. Your gifts are your own to bring into this world; they are magnificent. Never apologise for revealing who you truly are. When you step into your power you have so much to offer.

Let the small stuff go. Petty irritations pull you off centre; they are not worth it. Banish these. You cannot bring your full Self through when your ego self is absorbed in the minutiae of living. This is your choice: to spend your life on trivial matters or to reveal who you truly are.

You are more than you think you are. Be the larger Self and not the small self. You must make time to still your mind. Find time for peacefulness. You will be more centred and calm when you observe the rhythms of Nature, the Seasons, the cycles of the Moon and the rotation of the Sun through the sky. Take time to breathe and be still in the midst of all the busyness, even for a moment at a time, and you will stay on course.

You may recognise your weaknesses, but don’t beat yourself up with them or carry them about as a burden. Acknowledge them, then resolve you will do better next time and let them go. Every day is an opportunity for a fresh start, a clean sheet. Start every day with an intention to be in alignment with your Self and then review your day at the end. It is time to take as much notice of the things you do well. You gloss over these. Be proud of your achievements, they are well earned and take pleasure in the small things which come each day too. It is all worthy of acknowledgement."
