If you are not using the Internet to promote yourself, your business and your causes then you are missing a huge marketing opportunity. Social media has revolutionized how a business reaches their target market. Are you using social media effectively? I’ll show you how in this video and article. Be sure to turn up your speakers!
When I talk about social media in this article, I’m talking about LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. For my business, these seem to be the most effective use of my marketing time and efforts.
Here are my thoughts about using social media effectively:
1. Have an agenda mapped out before you begin your social media marketing campaign.
- Know what you want to achieve and promote.
- Know what you’d like the outcome to be – what exactly are your expectations.
- Know how you intend to achieve your social media plan of action.
2. Take yourself seriously as a woman in business. Remember, the whole world is watching. Don’t say or do anything on social media that you wouldn’t want the world to see and repeat.
3. This is your opportunity to help potential customers, clients or employers get to know you, like you and trust you. Use this opportunity wisely!
Here are three ways to use social media effectively:
1. Promote Yourself
Social media is an ideal way to show your target market that you know what you are talking about – that you are an expert in your field. Part of your social media campaign should direct your followers to articles that you’ve written, radio shows that you’ve hosted, etc.
2. Promote Your Business
Show your niche market that you have a proven track record of success and expertise. Send them to your products, blog, articles, book reviews, etc. Again, this is the perfect way for your followers to get to know you, like you and trust you. You can place pictures, video and audio on social media so your target market can read, see and hear your message in real-time.
3. Promote a Cause
Tell the whole world about those causes you believe in and support. Invite them to seminars, events and teleconference. Literally, the whole world is your stage!
Social media is a far-reaching and extremely powerful marketing tool, especially when you use it wisely and effectively. As you would any marketing tool, have a well thought out plan of action. Take your Tweeter, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn time as seriously as you would any other business networking tool.
