As more and more women begin entering and re-entering the job market, we naturally want to find the best paying jobs. Here is a list complied by the United States Department of Labor of the 30 highest paying full-time and wage earning occupations for women. It makes some interesting reading.
Many women are looking to educate or re-educate themselves to enter the current job market. In these turbulent economic times there may be some tough decisions to be made if you are looking to choose an occupation and career that will provide ongoing steady income and financial security.
My advice: Do your homework. Study the job market and the employment trends. If you’re looking to create long-term goals and financial security, you are probably considering a long-lasting career. These statistics will prove to be very interesting.
Spending time, energy and money on education to enter or re-enter the job market is a decision not to be taken lightly. You’ll want to study this list of the 30 highest paying occupations for women as complied by the United States Department of Labor to see if any of these occupations appeal to you and fit into your long-term plans.
The 30 occupations with the highest median weekly earnings among women who were full-time wage and salary workers were:

3. Chief executives, $1,598
4. Lawyers, $1,461
5. Computer software engineers, $1,445
6. Computer and information systems managers, $1,415
7. Physical therapists, $1,208
8. Speech-language pathologists, $1,184
9. Computer programmers, $1,177
10. Human resources managers, $1,170
11. Management analysts, $1,164
12. Medical and health services managers, $1,163
13. Education administrators, $1,137
14. Physician assistants, $1,129
15. Occupational therapists, $1,094
16. Purchasing managers, $1,050
17. Managers, all other, $1,045
18. Psychologists, $1,041
19. Registered nurses, $1,039
20. Public relations specialists, $1,034
21. Financial managers, $1,022
22. Computer scientists and systems analysts, $1,013

Many of the jobs listed take post high school education and/or learning specific skills. If you’re looking to build a long-lasting career, it may be time to decide if going back to school or taking specialized classes is something to consider.
