Businesswomen - Social Media Is Important

For many women in business, especially women working from home, social media has become their personal and professional support network. Over the past several years, studies and surveys show that women consistently out number men on social networking sites. Why have these social media connections become so powerful?

As Tweeter, YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn become easier to use and more popular, women in business seem to be relying on these sites more and more to conduct business and interact with other like-minded women. Aside from the obvious marketing opportunities, it seems to be the powerful emotional connections that keep women returning to interact, share and network.

Women know and understand the importance of having a quality support community. We are looking for other like-minded success-oriented women with whom we can share the ups and downs of our lives and our businesses. With social media, we can easily connect twenty-four hours a day with women entrepreneurs from all over the world - other women who seem to know and understand exactly what we are going through.

Why Is Social Media So Necessary To Women In Business?

1. You can connect with other women anytime day or night.
When you want to share something important, ask a question or make a new friend all you have to do is turn on your computer and log into one of social media sites.

2. Women like to share thoughts and feelings in a safe environment. Social media provides a non-threatening way to interact with other women. For even the shyest businesswomen, Twitter and Facebook can provide a safe place to express yourself.

3. For women in business, social media is a powerful marketing tool. It is an easy and convenient way to meet new clients and make sales. There are many ways you can market your business using social media – video, audio, articles, blog posts, book reviews and more. It is up to you to decide how to use your social media opportunities.

4. You can find like-minded social media communities with a few key words and the click of a mouse. Community is a huge part of who we are emotionally and physically as women. Being able to find like-minded kindred souls all in one location is a powerful emotional and mental success tool for thousands of women in business. The feeling of being connected is an important stabilizer for many entrepreneurial women.

5. There is emotional comfort in knowing that we are not alone. Being able to have an emotional connection with other women is often a necessary element to staying the course and achieving our goals. Nonjudgmental emotional comfort is a powerful need for many businesswomen. It may be difficult to find an empowering community of like-minded women within the city or town in which you live so for many, the Internet has become our networking community.

Word of caution: Choose your social media connections carefully. Be wise about what you share and with whom you share it. As with any social interaction – choose your friends and associates carefully.

Sharon Recommends:

There are a couple books on Amazon.com I think you'll find insightful and helpful:

I'd like to recommend my Kindle book, How To Market Your Business With Guest Blogging. Guest blogging is a powerful way to become an expert in your field and attract more readers to your own websites. Here is a direct link to read more and to purchase: How To Market Your Business With Guest Blogging

The second is a book that has been recommended to me several times although I've never used it myself: ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income

My opinions are solely mine. I am also an affiliate of Amazon.com and if you purchase through this link, I will earn a commission.
