Spiritual warfare
Do you ever feel like you are under attack from every side, everywhere you look and you don’t know what to do? Well we need to look no further than to the human operating manual. You might ask what that is. When you buy a car it comes with a manual from the manufacturer – right? Or when you by a piece of electronic equipment, you look for the manual to learn how to operate it properly so as not to cause any harm. So as humans we must look to the maker for our operating manual, which if you haven’t guessed, is the Bible.

God gives us instructions on how to deal with our everyday lives and prepares us for battle with the enemy. The promise in the Scriptures is that in the Lord Jesus Christ we can become victors instead of victims. Through Christ we can stand up against Satan, hold our ground and resist him successfully.

Is your armor of protection intact? You might be asking yourself what exactly does that mean. Look at Ephesians 6:13-18 which lists the pieces of the Christian warrior’s armor.

In Ephesians Chapter 6 Verses 13 thru 18, Paul employs the image of a soldier equipped for battle to help us understand that we are in a war and through using the whole armor of God and the practice of unceasing prayer we will not only have protection but victory. Satan loses the battle with us when we learn to stand our ground against him in the grace and strength provided by our Lord and Savior. By analyzing each piece we gain a greater understanding of the armor’s purpose and enables us the ability to stand our ground.

In checking to see if your whole armor is intact and ready for battle. Let's start with the first piece of spiritual armor we must put on, which is God’s Truth found in Ephesians 6:14. “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth.” Jesus said “I AM the way, the truth and the life” (John 14:6). Soldiers in God’s army must be faithful to Him and to His truth.

Jesus lives in us, therefore the truth is in us. Yet we are not consistently going to choose the way of truth if we do not know the Word of truth, the Holy Scriptures. As stated in John 17:17 Christ prayed, “Sanctify them through thy truth, Thy Word is truth”. We must accept the Bible as the truth.

Satan is the father of lies (John 8:44), and he uses them so that we might fall under the power of his kingdom. The believer that is controlled by the Holy Spirit accepts Jesus and His Word of truth as His protection against the deception of the devil. We prepare ourselves by taking hold of God’s truth and living it out in our daily life.

Girding our self with God’s truth will not prevent our being attacked by lies or liars but will protect the believer from being destroyed by them. That is the first piece of armor we must put on and one of the most important pieces because if we do not believe and trust in what's in the Bible then you might pick and choose which principles to apply.

Do you believe the Bible only speaks truth? If so, then your first piece of armor is intact. Now review Ephesians 6:13-18 to see the entire list of the pieces of armor to see if you need some repairs.

God Bless!
