Lessons from Genesis
The Bible is the blueprint for our daily lives and addresses how to handle every situation we face.
Let’s take a look at Genesis the first book of the Bible and the instructions contained there.
God placed value in everything He created including man. The first thing that we can learn from this is self-worth knowing that God created you. Everything God created had a special and specific purpose which also includes you. Just knowing how special we are to God should lift your spirit when you awake each morning.
Genesis 1:27-28
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
And God blessed them
The next concept to understand presented in the book of Genesis is the concept of responsibility. God gave Adam the Garden of Eden to care for with direct instructions just as the Bible gives us today. God created Eve as a companion for Adam and Eve succumbed to the deception of the serpent and encouraged Adam to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil which they were forbidden to do. This irresponsibility and disregard for God’s Word caused them to be cast out of the Garden of Eden.
Genesis 3:3
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die
Genesis 3:23
Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the Garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
Are there things happening in your life today because of disobedience to God’s Word?
This is a great time to examine your life and take an assessment of your existence. Are you happy? Are you living life to your full potential? Are you living by the Word of God?
Genesis 6:6-8
And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
But Noah found grace in the eyes of God
Now is a great time to read or reread Genesis and marvel at the works of God. Take God’s Word to heart and apply the principles for living victoriously so that you too can find favor in God’s eyes.
