Halloween Savings

Halloween is that time of year for trick or treat fun. The savings you find on Halloween merchandise can be a real treat. In most cases the trick is to stock up on after Halloween sales. Are you ready for the tricks and treats?
Pumpkins. Many times pumpkins go on sale before Halloween arrives. Large discount stores are known to cut the price of pumpkins by as much as half. This leaves you with great savings for those last minute pumpkin decorations. Plus, you can always cut up the pumpkins to make pie and toast the seeds.
Costumes. These go on sale at substantial savings the day after Halloween. Many costumes can be converted to a new costume for the following year. Either take pieces of the costume (such as accessories) or use sewing skills to alter it. Kids’ costumes can be handed down to younger kids. Not always a popular idea, but it does save money.
Decorations. Here again, decorations go on sale right after Halloween. They can be purchased at substantial savings. Most decorations keep well and can be re-used for many years. Outdoor decorations will need to be replaced more frequently due to weather damage. It pays to get the best deal you can on these items.
Candy. Have a favorite candy? It may be on sale after the holiday. Stock up on your favorite while at big savings. Halloween candy is still good after Halloween. It is just the packaging that becomes dated. You can find many popular brands in their Halloween packages much cheaper than even the regular packaging. It tastes just as good.
Carving kits. Pumpkin carving kits keep fine. Buy them on sale after the holiday. You can use them next year while having saved money.
Napkins and party goods. It is true that each year stores come out with new designs of products. But you can still use the old ones if you don't mind looking a little out-of-date. This applies to napkins, plates, treat bags, etc. Or you can use the napkins and plates daily through to Thanksgiving. They are perfectly usable.
Halloween cards. Give cards at Halloween? Stock up on them after the holiday for next year. Cards keep really well and don't get dated like some other items.
Halloween can be a lot of fun. After Halloween sales are a great way to keep that fun going through next year. It can be a real treat all around.

Sandra Investing/HFinance: What savings do you find at Halloween? |
Jana - Creativity Editor: I'm ready Sandra! I'm a Halloween person for sure. My favorite time of the year. The chill in the air. The haunted houses. The fright. The chills that run up and down your spine. Yes! |
Sandra Investing/HFinance: Lol - Glad you love Halloween, Jana. Not sure I am brave enough for haunted houses, but I do love this time of year. Sadly, I can no longer eat all that Halloween candy. Otherwise, I think I would be trick-or-treating like Garfield in his Halloween cartoon special. |
Jana - Creativity Editor: I'm not brave enough for haunted houses anymore. I've had my fill. I lost my glasses and my daughter in law broke her ankle. That was a few years ago. I would love to be in HI with my gbabies but I'm in mainland land lock. |
Sandra Investing/HFinance: Hope you see your gbabies soon. I'm sure they miss seeing you. Hope you all have a Happy Halloween! |
Jana - Creativity Editor: You have a Happy Halloween too Sandra. I'm nursing a severe sprain. Not much walking around here. I fell and hurt it in front of the ER when I was going to see my dad. Such grace. ![]() |
