2012 is the year the ancient Mayan calendar ends. As we get closer many people have started talking about the ‘end of days’, speculating that 2012 will mark a final cataclysm for humans on this planet. Hollywood has joined in, making end of the world disaster movies. It’s not very uplifting!

I don’t believe our future is fixed. As yet we are neither saved nor doomed. I truly believe we are at a special time in the evolution of mankind and I think it is significant that the Long Count of the Mayan calendar is completed as the transition into the Age of Aquarius, the New Age, is taking place. My feeling is that 2012 is a huge wake up call, bringing us to our senses about what is truly important and opening our eyes to the greater reality we have been filtering out.

We are certainly in a time of rapid and accelerating change. Not only does modern technology get updated faster than blinking, it seems to me that time itself has speeded up over the last few years and continues to do so. The hours, days, months and years roll past ever faster. I would have put this observation down to the effects of aging had my young son not commented. Since then I have seen that Barbara Hand Clow, author of The Mayan Code refers to this phenomena as 'time acceleration'.

I feel we may indeed be close to the ‘end of time’ but not necessarily in the catastrophic way it is often meant, rather an end to the way mankind has measured time. We know that our spirit guides don't exist in time the way we do. Past, present and future are all accessible now if you step out of 3D reality. Perhaps 2012 marks the end to our restricted view of reality and with it our experience of time?

I have noticed that many spiritual seekers are ready to burn away their karma and clear past life blocks quickly now. I have gone through an intensive personal clearing process over the last few years that was not without pain, but it felt completely necessary. There is a sense that we are being cleansed and readied for a role in the changes to come.

I perceive that the mass spiritual awakening of humanity is already well underway. I see significant numbers of people who are becoming aware of their energy bodies, spirit guides, healing and psychic powers. This a sign that a major shift is happening which Barbara Hand Clow describes as the 'Awakening of the World Mind'.

People are starting to perceive the intricately woven and subtle dance of energy between all the life forms that share this Earth. There is a gradual move away from dominating Nature towards co-operating with her, from viewing anything non human as something to be exploited to sensing that we humans co-create the world with our stone, plant and animal brethren. I believe this greater sensitivity is a necessary part of the evolution of humanity and is one of the changes that needs to accelerate.

Each of us that awakens is like a light in the darkness. A single candle does not shed much light, but hundreds of thousands of candles create quite a glow! One of my guides showed me that each Lightworker is connected to the whole by a web of light. We are not separate and isolated. Even if we work alone we are connected to the whole and there is a cumulative effect. We are awakening our neighbours, not by knocking on their doors and cajoling them, but by authentically standing in our power and by right action.

I do believe Humanity as a whole has the potential to change and become enlightened and I feel this is necessary for our future on Earth. Do I think we will all have become ascended beings by December 2012. Not likely! Perhaps some lightworkers will choose the ascension route and leave the planet, and maybe some are needed for non physical roles, but I hope most will focus on helping to raise the vibration on the planet here and now.

We have chosen to be embodied for a reason at this time. Eventually we will all return to Source, but let us be as useful and responsible as we can be in our daily lives and not start looking for the nearest exit. There isn't a great race to get off the planet, a first come first served ascension quota. Do your personal clearing work and then get on with helping others in whatever way you serve best.
