Billy Manas

I turn back almost instinctively
As your mother puts the SUV
In drive and our eyes meet for
Just two seconds. My tired and
Middle aged ones and your insane
Two year old orbs that hold the
Endless energy to view everything
In its newness for the first time.
And my soul that is so used to wanting
For the sake of wanting, wants nothing...
For it is all right here- In birdsong,
Your furtive glance and this moment.
