Classic Turner Upon Visiting the Getty Turner Exhibit

Linda Golden

Stand
Face a canvas
Knowing it is flat
Feeling tossed about by the sea
Enveloped by wind and water

His wielding pigment by brush
Or palette knife with gusto
Nail scrapes, thumbprint, rag

Magic claims my senses
At the burnished sunrise
Or the glistening evening tide
I stand by the ocean with him
