Granny Squares

Stephanie Arwen Lynch

I fear the sound of my hands,
Tapping on the keyboards,
Echoing the loneliness.
So I crochet one more square.
Bright colors weave as one.
I create a fabric for what?
When I´m done, I´ll have two.

Two squares of emptiness
That don´t help me as I knit
My heart against the missing,
Against the tsunami of tears.
Three times my hand goes out
To the empty spaces of my life
That your huge heart filled.
I fear the sound of my tears
Drowning out my own fears.
