Time In The Day

Marylou Mansfield

The clock speaks to my past…
Tick and tock
Ringing
Consuming
Marking
Dictating

The sea tells real time…
In and out
Ebbing
Surrounding
Capturing
Teasing

I attend the sun, the moon.
I use the flow of water to score my days.
The weathervane breezes direction.
Birds announce clouds, changes, seasons.
I need only air to breathe,
Creation to stir my senses,
Surroundings to tally my time.
