Blue motorcycle,
Parked by the shining river
Day after day,
Month after month.

Is it abandoned?
It’s too far away
From anyone’s house
To make any sense.

Gathering dew in the night,
Gathering dust in the day:
The summer wears on
And the leaves change color.

Blue motorcycle
In the selfsame spot,
Shining like the river
In the morning glow.

If you’re curious,
The plates can be traced
To the vagrant owner.
Why spoil the mystery?

Solitary dream
Of the open road:
Blue motorcycle,
Waiting for the first snow.

Reader Feedback:
I love this poem--especially the way the theme is expressed in the next to last stanza. You're so right: We need a little mystery--shouldn't always
let logic rule.
