Stacey Dye

How the cottage-view sated her --
succulent meadows fragrant with
lilac, skyline of rippling hillsides,
rolling streams, all nourish her spirit.

Within her microcosm, an oak
drizzled in silver moss glowed
under a sky stamped
with a sickle-shaped moon.

Sitting beneath the tree,
brightened by flickering
candles fused to ancient stone…
she admired the earth’s complexion

despite its imperfections.
She lifted her voice first
in gratitude for nature’s gifts,
then sang of serendipity --

in that moment she realized
the sustenance harvested from
this majestic universe was much
more than happenstance.
