The demon whispered in the dark, its voice cutting the silence with an electric edge. “Are you sure this is what you want?”
“Yes,” I replied. “Yes, I am sure that I never want to see him again.”
“Done,” he replied.
I waited, expecting to be thrust back into familiar surroundings, but without my aggravating, sniveling, pathetic excuse of a husband.
Nothing but darkness and silence.
“Hello?” I whispered.
Panic filled my chest. Reaching out my hands, I met walls at arms’ length on all sides. No door. No light switch. Nothing.
