I recently visited The Butterfly Place in Westford, MA with my four year old, Hannah. Hannah likes all kinds of bugs, so I thought this would be a neat place to take her.The Butterfly Place is a bit pricey, however they don't receive any outside funding so this is how they support themselves. I found the atrium - where the butterflies are - to be a bit on the small side, but there were tons of butterflies. Hannah really liked walking around and seeing all the different butterflies. There is also a "Show and Tell" area. On the day we went they had silk worms at varying stage of development. Hannah liked looking at the worms the best.
There is also an observation area for the atrium where you can look at the display cases that show butterflies and moths at various stages of development. There is also a 15 minute video presentation featuring the life cycle of a butterfly. This runs continuously.
They have a gift shop along with restrooms and an outdoor eating area. A good thing if you packed your lunch.
If your children are into bugs and butterflies - I recommend visiting The Butterfly Place.
