Flower Style Book Review

For novice and experienced designers alike “Flower Style-Arrangements for Every Occasion” from Victoria magazine and Diane Wagner is essential. This was released by Hearst Books. It takes the guesswork out of floral design. This is lushly illustrated with color photos.

The introduction covers all of the basics on floral design. The author carefully explains all of the basic techniques that designers need to know. She also shows how to make bows and create arrangements for weddings.

The author also covers all the different kinds of flower stems as well as foliage, berries, and other florals that are seen in floral arrangements. She recommends specific uses for each one. In addition, this book also tells how to condition flowers.

This provides details on each major group or category of flower. Examples include the accent flowers, filler flowers, foliage, and so on. For each group, the author gives details and explains how they’re used in floral arrangements.

The author also provides background on the various color palettes. This information will be especially useful when planning parties and special events.

This title devotes a section to each season with around twelve or so projects using seasonal floral materials. All in all, there are nearly 50 delightful floral designs. For each season, the author provides a list of the recommended flowers, which are listed by color.

For each of the individual projects, this has a list of the flowers and floral supplies that are needed along with color illustrated, step by step instructions. These easy projects are simple enough for novices.

Throughout the book are boxes with quick and easy tips.

As the title indicates, this has floral designs for every type of event throughout the year. For each season, it gives examples of different kinds of arrangements. You’ll find projects for all of the holidays as well as for special occasions like weddings and anniversaries. Among the projects are numerous examples for centerpieces and table decorations. There is a design to suit every type of event from parties and buffets to family dinners.

Readers will find this title covers all kinds of arrangements. These include corsages and boutonnieres, topiaries, pomanders, flower baskets, bouquets, wreaths, swags, garlands, and place card holders.

The projects use both fresh and dried flowers. Herb lovers will especially like the pomanders and herb bundles.
