Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton
Women who take their place in major civic and political organizations and meet the responsibilities of these roles have a challenge in appearing serious and sensible while not giving up their femininity and personal style. A powerful woman requires a style that is up-to-date and conservative yet still needs some versatility in that style. A trendy, messed up, just-out-of-bed look has no place on the cover of Newsweek or standing before Congress, however it may be just the thing for going out on the town or to a party with friends.
Let´s look at two powerful women:
Laura Welch Bush; public school teacher and librarian, former First Lady of Texas and First Lady of the United States.
She wears a short layer cut that skims close to the sides, tucked behind the ears for a slimming effect. The bangs are swept off the face and the back is cut just past the nape.
To create this look, apply styling aids and blow dry, using a round brush. Direct the hair back away from your face. Finish gently with your fingers to create casual softness.
Her hair color is a rich chocolate brown with some very natural warm highlights. Keeping hair color vibrant is the best way to camouflage any signs of aging.
Hillary Rodham Clinton; lawyer, former First Lady of Arkansas, former First Lady of the United States and Senator
Senator Clinton wears a similar style hair cut in a slightly longer version. She deals with her straighter hair texture by wearing a smoother style. Although we have seen various lengths in the years Mrs. Clinton has been in the public eye, the shorter layer cut offers more control and the ability to put a little more wave and direction into it. Style this hair by applying volumizing styling aids and blowing it dry with a large round brush. Again it is finished using just the fingers to push it into place.
The former First Lady has blonde hair that is enlivened by the addition of fine, light blonde highlights throughout. These blonde strands will also be effective in camouflaging any gray hairs that may appear.
Should Mrs. Bush or Mrs. Clinton want to show a more daring, fun loving side they could use styling wax to separate and lift the individual layers pulling down some thin spiky bangs. For a romantic evening the styles can be curled all over using velcro rollers or a curling iron and worn in a loose tosseled look.
