Britney Spears is the image of youth and energy and her look seems to appeal to women from ages four to forty-four. Who wouldn´t want hair that can be whipped around, turned upside down and always come out looking ready for a photo shoot.

Britney´s hair color has evolved over the years. Starting out as light brown with soft beige blonde highlights, it has grown increasingly blonder and more glamorous. My personal favorite was medium golden blonde with extra light blonde highlights. She had a very blonde look in the front gradually darkening toward the back and underneath layers.
Achieve this beautiful blonde by applying a blond tint to lift your natural color to a medium golden blonde. If your hair color is dark, it may require a stronger preparation to lift it to the color you desire, and may result in a dark golden blonde. This shade will make up the undertone of your finished hair color. Next, highlight with a bleaching preparation to create chunky blonde streaks. These streaks can be placed in the appropriate places to accentuate your most attractive features.

Often, after a little too much time on the beach or in the summer sun, the color may take on an all over blond look, losing its texture and depth. When this happens it may be necessary to add lowlights to bring it back to its original color. Lowlights are just highlights that deposit a deeper shade of color, replacing the undertones, giving your style depth.

To achieve a Brittany-style look in your haircut, start with a blunt cut bottom layer. Adding long chunky layers though out will allow for a lot of movement and bounce in the style. Hair gel or a strong mousse gives the hair body with the look of thicker hair, not fine and wispy. While drying your style, scrunch some wave into it, giving it even more body. Another Britney-style trick is to make small braids in several areas of your finished style. These can be dampened before making the braid or after. Let them air dry or use a blow dryer, then comb them out. When this is done in the under layers of your style, it adds texture as well as fullness.
