Disney Character Baby Names
Disney has put out dozens of feature films that we've all heard of, such as The Lion King, Lady and the Tramp, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
But did you also know that many of these films ended up popularizing particular baby names?
The best example of this is Ariel, which was only able to rank among the top 100 baby names in the U.S. in 1990, 1991 and 1992--no doubt due to the success of "The Little Mermaid" (released in November, 1989).
Esmeralda may have also been assisted by Disney. It was already on its way up in terms of popularity, but seemed to peak early in the years following the release of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" (released in June, 1996).
And let's not forget Fantasia Barrino, who won the third season of American Idol, or Ashlee Simpson's newborn son, who was given middle name Mowgli.
