Gin and tonic is a classic cocktail recipe. However, tonic water is notoriously high in carbs. Can you make a low carb version?
First, the recipe -
5oz Tonic Water
2oz Gin
1 lime peel
Mix the tonic and gin together in a shaker with ice. Strain and server into a cocktail glass. Garnish the glass with the lime peel
Gin is completely zero carb. However, tonic water is very high -
Canada Dry Tonic Water - 22g / 8oz
Schweppes Tonic Water - 23g / 8oz
You CAN get diet tonic water that is zero carb. Just make very sure that you are getting that diet version and not the real one.
Tonic water is just water with quinine and sugar. It's also called quinine water because of that.
