Enzo is an enigma. Most sources suggest it originated as a pet form of -enzo names like Lorenzo and Vincenzo. Other theories hold that Enzo was derived from the name Heinz or the German word for giant, ent.
One famous bearer was Enzo Anselmo Ferrari (1898-1988), founder of the famous Italian automobile manufacturing company.
The car in the photo is the "Enzo Ferrari," a fairly recent model named in honor of Mr. Ferrari. Only 400 of these 12-cylinder sports cars--which have a top speed of over 200 mph--were ever built.
The name Enzo debuted in the top 1,000 in 2003. In 2008, it was the 606th most popular boy name.
