Meine Liebe
Meine Liebe is an anime series based on Konami's series of dating sim games for the Game Boy Advance and the PlayStation 2.
Meine Liebe is set in a fictional country called Kuchen, which is located in the Atlantic Ocean, and is to the coasts of France and south of Britannia. Kuchen is a monarchy, and the king receives guidance from several scholars with strong backgrounds who are recognized by the Kuchen church. These men are of noble rank, and are graduates of the Rosenstolz Academy. The academy, which is a boarding school that students from wealthy families attend, serves as the main setting for the series. At the school, the students study fencing, horseback riding, history and Kuchen history, science and languages.
The main protagonist of Meine Liebe is a young man named Orpherus; two years prior to the start of the series, his older sister was killed in a terrorist act. Orpherus believes that a country should be ruled by its people. Eduard, who goes by the nickname Ed, is the product of an illegal affair his father had with a woman of a lower rank. After Ed's mother died, his father took him in. However, his stepmother and his stepsisters don't interact with him. Ed is Orpherus' best friend, and he is a cheerful and laid-back person. Ed serves as the comic relief of the series.
Ludwig, who has acquired the nickname Lui, is the son of a Duke, and his mother is the king's sister. In the series, Lui appears to be cold-hearted and arrogant, and Lui and Orpherus do not get along with each other. Camus is Lui's cousin, and he possesses an ability that resembles empathy. Camus talks to flowers when he tends them, and the flowers bloom more wildly when he does. Naoji was born in Japan to a prestigious family. He was sent to Kuchen by his father to not only receive an education, but to protect him from the impending war in Japan.
Meine Liebe has an interesting premise, and the setting definitely has a European feel to it. While there is nothing objectionable in the visuals for younger viewers, I think that the pace of the storytelling would be too slow for a young audience. I would personally recommend Meine Liebe to anime viewers who are 14 or 15 years of age and older.
