I love a good craft book.
And one of my artistic loves, is book binding. I love it. So I was thrilled by the book “Handmade Decorative Books” by Sue Roddis. A lot of craft books that I buy (and I’ve bought A LOT) have left me high and dry, wanting more, and not being thrilled at all. But this is not so with this particular book.

Sue Roddis has a very cool variety of handmade books. With each tutorial, she also features two other ways to make the same project! That is cool. And there are so many pictures. The pictures alone are enough for me to figure out how to make something.
It is important for a good craft book to have lots of pictures. LOTS. Because the instructions are fine, but one needs the pictures as well. This book has lots of pictures, lots of ideas, and lots of step by step instruction.

The thing that I love about her book is how she combines the two things I love: book binding, and rubber stamping. In this book, you'll learn book binding methods and you'll learn how to combine your rubber stamps with your book making.

The book making itself is a great tool for any crafter to learn. Once you learn to make your own books you can create so many things for yourself: scrapbooks, art journals, photo albums, guest books for parties...the posibilities are endless.
She shows you how to make a book with chopsticks, handmade paper, and so much more!

So I must say that I love this book. I want to make everything in it! This book has been out since September of 2009. How am I just hearing about it? It certainly is NOT in my local Barnes and Noble bookstore. I am so happy with it. Sue Roddis is so talented and an amazing artist.
She has a blog as well, which has wonderful projects and photographs and such.
I warn you some of my future works will probably be suspiciously influenced by her unique style. Few paper artists actually affect me as her style and blog has.
