Sports Champions PS3
Sports Champions is the default PS3 Move game that comes with the PS3 Move Starter pack. It's important to note that you MUST have a Move system in order to play this game!
The game is fairly basic, as you'd expect from a first game out with a new technology. It's there to give you a taste of how Move works and to encourage you to buy more games. There are a number of game areas for you to choose from - Disc Golf, Gladiator Duel, Beach Volleyball, Archery, Table Tennis and Bocce. None are particularly stunning, but they're all reasonably fun.
You'll want to have a LOT of controllers to play this. Some of the games work best if a player has two Move wands, one in each hand. If you have two people playing against each other, that's a lot of wands! At the least you'd want to have one wand per person so they can play against each other.
The games do help to demonstrate how the Move works. For example in Table Tennis the slightest twist of your wrist really does turn the paddle. You can tilt it up and down, left and right, forward and back, all with subtle hand movements.
With sword fighting, the system knows if you're doing a quick, short attack or a broad, sweeping attack and your character reacts accordingly. Just be careful not to swing too wildly - you can end up hitting the person standing next to you by accident! Yes, I know from experience :)
There are both quick-play options as well as a challenge mode. There are different locations for you to play in, a variety of male and female characters to choose from, and different outfits as well.
The game is certainly a good one to start out with - it gives you a range of activities, gets you used to how the Move controllers work, and doesn't overwhelm you with complicated button sequences or confusing missions. Well recommended as a first game for your Move system to get your feet wet!
Rating: 9/10
