Exercise Helps
Many people find that after they exercise they feel better. Divorce especially causes a range of emotions. They can include anger, resentment, remorse, fear and anxiety. Sometimes the emotions can be positive such as the relief of being away from a difficult marriage.
Even if your divorce was many years ago, there can still be stress that remains. Sometimes people pick destructive behaviors to assist them. Excessive use of alcohol or using drugs, even eating excessive amounts of food can hurt your body, your career and your life. Exercise is far better.
Of course it is important to speak with your doctor before you begin an exercise regime. Do not do more than your body allows. You can also start slow and build your exercise repertoire.
Walking is a great way to start. If you have a pet, take him or her with you. If you have a small child, put him or her in a jogging stroller. If you are healthy and your doctor approves, you can start jogging. You can also walk part of the way and jog part of the way. You will be amazed how much progress you will make.
If you like organized sports, see if there is a community sports league. You can also check out the local YWCA or YMCA. You can join a gym and take classes or use the exercise machines.
Bicycling is a great activity. It is also something your children or friends can enjoy as well.
There are things you can do in your own home that are low cost. Look at the sports networks on TV and tape one of the exercise shows. Walk up and down your stairs multiple times. You can even put on the music and just move to your favorite song. No-one has to see you and you can be as silly as you want.
The important thing is that you are doing something good for your body and redirecting negative thoughts. Even if you are past all of your divorce issues, exercise is still a great idea.
You will feel so good and you can be proud of your accomplishment. You will forget any bad thoughts. You can also reward yourself with a movie or perhaps even a new outfit. You will look and feel great.
