Emily's List

Emily's List
One of the strongest supporters of Pro-Choice Democratic women is EmilysList.org. They have raised over $80 million since their beginning in 1985, and every penny raised goes towards the campaigns of the Pro-Choice Democrats running in the election for various offices in various branches of government and states.

Their motto “win today, and build for tomorrow” is exactly what we need to get all the pro-choice women we can in office while helping to keep moving President Obama’s progressive agenda forward.

I will spend the next several weeks helping to inform you, the best I can, on candidates running with the best decisions for supporting women in mind.

I am starting with Florida, simply because they are one of the states that would best benefit from democratic pro-choice women in office. These women are all candidates endorsed by Emily’s List.

-Alex Sink, Democratic candidate for Governor of Florida- is the Chief Financial officer for the State of Florida and treasurer on the board of trustees of the Florida state board of administration.

Sink is a strong supporter of Roe V. Wade the infamous court case, legalizing abortion.

She was honored in 2003 by Planned Parenthood of Southwest and central Florida for her unrelenting support of women and their reproductive choices.

She is also a supporter of Gay and Lesbian adoption rights with no bias toward gender preference.

-Lori Edwards, Democratic candidate for US. House of Florida- Is in a huge fight for her seat in the 12th district. She has two far right wing opponents running against her spot.

She began in the state legislation in 1993, and is widely considered thoughtful and fair. She is currently the Polk County Elections Supervisor, where she has made the counties elections easier as Chief election Official.

She has helped to make stronger laws against sex offenders and worked to reform the juvenile justice system.

-Suzanne Kosmas is the Democratic candidate for the US. House 24th district of Florida.

She was sworn into office on January 6th, 2009 as US. Representative of Florida’s 24th congressional district.

She is a strong supporter of choice, and is in need of help from all supporters of choice, democrat or not. She trails in the polls, and is a huge target of the GOP.

She is one of the candidates listed on Sarah Palins Facebook, “Hit List”.

-Frederica Wilson, Florida State Senator is running for the congressional district 17th seat.

She has a lengthy record of service and loyalty to the Florida State Legislature and Floridians.

From 1998-2002 she served as State Representative and from 2002-to the present as state senator.

She was a teacher, principal, and school board member of the communities she has represented. She started the 5000 role models of excellence program to prevent high school students from dropping out, and has helped more than 6000 students.

We as women must make sure we utilize our right, and make our voices heard. We cannot let people with only political agendas, decide what is best for us and our bodies.

It is crucial that you get out and vote.
