Have you ever wanted to take your cat to a luxury pet resort while you vacation as well? Now you can!

On September 1, 2010, Best Friends Pet Care at Walt Disney World Resort opened its new luxury pet resort. Best Friends was founded in 1991, opened its first full-service pet resort in 1996, and has over 40 locations in 18 states. The new facility, a 50,000 square foot complex, at Walt Disney World is the ultimate pet resort offering a variety of services – for a price. This new pet resort will be replacing the multiple kennels throughout Disney property.

Let's take a look at what they offer especially for our feline friends.

The Kitty City pavilion is located away from the dog area. At Kitty City you can choose to board your cat in either a two-level or four-level condo, each complete with windows and a private litter box area. Kitty City can accommodate up to 30 cats.

Boarding your cat at the luxury resort at Walt Disney World won’t be cheap, but if you travel with your cat and want to pamper him or her, this just might be a real treat. The two-level condo will cost you $23 per night and the four-level condo is $32 per night. Walt Disney Resort guests do receive a slight discount. If you board more than one cat in the same condo, you receive 20% off for the second and third cats.

In addition to boarding rates, the facility also offers daycare rates. The two-level condo for up to six hours will cost you $15 and over six hours, $18. For the four-level condo, up to six hours runs $21 and over six hours, $26. As with boarding, additional cats sharing a condo receive a discount.

Some of the activities and amenities offered for cats include: supervised playtime, cookies and milk, tuna on a ritz, activity toy, and a deluxe bed. Each amenity does have a price tag. Playtime is $8 per session, Cookies and Milk $3 each, Tuna on a Ritz $3 each, Activity Toy is $3 per day, and Deluxe Kitty Bed is $5 per day.

If you decide a stay at Best Friends Pet Care Luxury Resort at Walt Disney World is in your cat’s future reservations are strongly recommended, and you will need to pack a few things for kitty. The resort requires pets be up-to-date on vaccinations and a copy of your cat’s records must be provided. If your cat is on a special diet or medication, be sure to pack enough for your visit. All pets must arrive and leave in a carrier (or wearing a collar and leash). You can also bring along your cat’s special toy or favorite treats.

In addition to cats, Best Friends Luxury Pet Resort at Walt Disney World offers accommodations for dogs, pocket pets, small mammals and birds.
