2007 Primetime Emmy Award Nominations Announced

Guest Author - Elizabeth Borer

Nominations for the 59th annual Primetime Emmy Awards were revealed July 19, 2007 in the wee hours of the morning. Jon Cryer (Two And A Half Men, CBS) and Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer, TNT), Emmy nominees themselves, joined with Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Chairman and CEO, Dick Askin to announce this year’s nominees. Cryer and Sedgwick were present to announce 11 of the 90 categories.
Networks leading in nominations are HBO and ABC, HBO receiving 17 nominations for the movie Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee alone.

Set to present include stars such as Steve Carell (The Office, NBC), Patricia Heaton (Back To You, FOX), Katherine Heigl (Grey‘s Anatomy, ABC), Kiefer Sutherland (24, FOX), Kate Walsh (Private Practice, ABC), Hayden Panettiere (Heroes, NBC) and the cast of the HBO hit Entourage.

This year’s Emmy Awards will bring a fresh concept to award shows, going green. The ‘Green With Emmy” Campaign, a partnership between FOX and The Academy, will be a part of all Emmy related events including the award announcements, the live show, governors ball and after-party. The goals of the campaign range from using hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles for transportation, recycling and reducing energy consumption. Invitations, programs, press material and more will all be made of 100% post consumer paper products. Even the catered events will include organic and locally grown ingredients. Expect to see and hear mentions of the “Green With Emmy” campaign throughout the award show.
