Magical DoReMi
Magical DoReMi (known in Japan as Ojamajo Doremi) is a magical girl anime series.
The main character of the series is Doremi Harukaze (known as Dorie Goodwyn in 4Kids' English dub). She is lively and noisy, clumsy and careless, and wants to become a witch. Doremi also proclaims herself as "the unluckiest pretty girl in the whole world."
One day, while heading home from school after having a bad day, Doremi comes across a magic shop. She realizes a witch runs the shop, and by pointing out that the Majo Rika (the shopkeep) is a witch, the witch changes form into a Witch Frog. Doremi ends up having to become the witch's apprentice, and learns magic from Majo Rika in her frog form and from Rika's fairy, Lala. Doremi's theme color is pink and her crystal is a pink bean. During the series, she acquires a fairy named Dodo.
Hazuki Fujiwara (known as Reanne Griffith in 4Kids' English dub) is Doremi's best friend, and they have been friends since kindergarten. Hazuki is shy, sweet, passive, and wears glasses. During the series, Hazuki also ends up becoming a witch. Her theme color is orange, and her crystal is an orange heart. Hazuki ends up getting a fairy named Rere.
Aiko Seno (known as Mirabelle Haywood in 4Kids' English dub) is a transfer student with a short temper. She also ends up becoming a witch. Aiko's theme color is blue and her crystal is a blue diamond. During the series, she acquires a fairy named Mimi (and she is the toughest of the fairies).
When 4Kids produced the English dub of Magical DoReMi, they localized the series by including a new soundtrack, changing the characters' names, and cutting scenes. The scenes they cut made the series a little more appropriate for younger viewers and to make room for commercial breaks. Personally, I would recommend the English dub version of the series to anime viewers who are eight or nine years of age and older.
