Fans of RHONJ have watched Teresa Giudice over the past five seasons, and have either grown to love or hate her. In the beginning of the show, Teresa was obsessed with showing off her fancy home, designer clothes, piles of money, and expensive handbags. We saw the interesting relationship she has with her husband Joe, AKA "Juicy Joe." We also saw her brawl with her sister in law Melissa Gorga (of whom I am a HUGE fan!) and brother Joe. I think it is safe to say that we got a somewhat solid idea of her character as a person, and how she relates to people.

I believe Teresa is someone who is miserable in her marriage and not happy with her life, despite all the abundance around her. Her four daughters also reflect this, as they seem to display rude and bratty behavior around the camera. They act in ways I would have NEVER gotten away with growing up, but Teresa just looks on like it is as natural as the rising sun. Children reflect the dysfunction around them, and it is no surprise that her daughters act in this manner.

Then came the bomb. Teresa and her husband Joe were hit with a laundry list of criminal charges including: mortgage fraud, bankruptcy fraud, back taxes, and conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud, among others. Teresa claimed complete innocence, and that it was all her husband's doing. Joe is a real pickle since he is not a U.S. citizen and could face deportation back to Italy, besides prison time.

Since then, there have been some changes. Despite her pleas of innocence, Teresa has since pled guilty to some of the charges. She has agreed to pay back at least $200,000 in back taxes before July. Legal experts say that Teresa will likely only face less than two years of prison time. However, Teresa might be able to claim the "mommy excuse" and have a type of house arrest/probation instead. Joe is not so lucky. Apparently it is unlikely he will be deported, since that is usually for felons. It is likely he could do between 3-4 years in prison instead. The final court date is set for July.

I find it alarming that Teresa decided to go along with her husband and get themselves into such a mess. It is especially horrifying since they have four young children. It definitely speaks volumes about her character and I am no longer a fan of hers.
