Have you ever had one of "those" weeks? You know who King Midas was, correct? Everything he touched turned to gold. That is where they get the expression, "She (or he's) got the touch!" Since I had one of "those" weeks, can you imagine what happened when I touched something this past week? If I even came near something this past week? Let's just say that I was not King Midas. How about King Do Do?
Monday - I went into a meeting with 10 co-workers. They make the usual announcement about turning off cell phones. I turned off the ringer on my cell phone and set it to vibrate. My cell phone was very low on battery so I decided to just turn it off. A guy from marketing came in, all frantic and scanned the room. Spotting me, he came over and told me that my boss was trying to call me on my cell - "Was there a problem with my phone?". I get up, leave the meeting, turn on the phone and call him. My boss tells me "Never mind" that he was trying to reach David and got our cell numbers confused. I go back into the meeting and suddenly a cell phone starts ringing very loudly. The meeting leader looks very annoyed and is looking for the person who is stopping the meeting. Yup, it's my cell. Everyone looks at me like I am a total moron.
My boss reams me later in the day asking why I had my cell phone on the ringer in the conference meeting and when I tell him why, it makes no difference since he wasn't trying to call me to begin with, didn't I know that?
Sigh. That was Monday morning and it went down hill from there. On Friday, I started to think about the week and try to figure out what I could have done to make it better. What I really needed this week was a friend. Then I started to think about my favorite subject - WINE!
I sat down and popped the cork out of a bottle of 2004 Columbia Crest Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Estates. It costs about $8.99 around here. I have seen it advertised for $7.99 in some areas of the country on WineZap.com. In case you are having one of "those" weeks, you might get a bottle to see if you can get the week straightened out before Friday. Don't wait - take action!
I am listening to a Russ Freeman CD. I start thinking about wine, while sipping and enjoying and start jotting some notes about wine and my need for a friend. So here, without further ado are:
Top 10 Reasons Why Wine is Your Best Friend!
Reason Number 10:
Depending on how much wine you've had, your wine might think you are a member of Mensa.
Reason Number 9:
If you go to bed with a bottle of wine, most likely the bottle of wine will still be there in the morning.
Reason Number 8:
Your wine will always agree with you.
Reason Number 7:
You never need to tell your wine you are sorry.
Reason Number 6:
Your wine does not need a name (unless it is Rose').
Resason Number 5:
You can share your wine with another bottle of wine or not - it's your choice.
Reason Number 4:
You can still love your wine in the morning even if you spent all night with it.
Reason Number 3:
You can enjoy a night with just yourself and a bottle of wine.
Reason Number 2:
You can get more than one bottle of wine or even 12 bottles of wine and they will not fight or get rowdy or keep the neighbors up at night. Twelve bottles of wine will never fight over you.
And . . . The Number 1 Reason Why Wine is Your Best Friend:
You can put your wine away and not see it for a week and not feel guilty.
Just remember your wine will never talk back to you. Also, your wine will never talk behind your back either for that matter.
If you have Top 10 Reasons having to do with wine, drop me a note. I will publish them depending on the kind of week I am having.
I'm getting a little drowsey now. I can not tell if my wine bottle is half full or half empty, but I think it is time for bed. Yes I can wait for next week. Today is still Friday until it's not, right? Well - I'm going to put the cork it in - in the wine bottle and in this article.
