Kiddy Grade
Kiddy Grade is a science fiction anime series created by gimik and Gonzo Digimation, and was directed by Keiji Gotoh.
Kiddy Grade is set in the future, and the human race now inhabits a multitude of planets in the universe. With this growth came an increase in crime, so the Galactic Organization of Trade and Tariffs (GOTT) is formed to serve as a universal police force. There is a special branch of GOTT known as the ES Force (Encounter of Shadow-Work Force). Each member of the ES operates with another member of the same class, and they are issued an advanced spaceship and a guard robot.
The main characters and protagonists of Kiddy Grade are Eclair and Lumiere. They are ES members who have a spaceship called La Muse, and a guard robot named Donnerschlag. As ES members, they report directly to Eclipse, the chief of GOTT.
Eclair has a childish nature, but is often seen dressing up in skimpy or amusing costumes. She has a rash nature, and she often overreacts to situations; however, Eclair is sweet, caring, and willing to help others. She also possesses great physical strength.
Lumiere, on the other hand, has a mind that can control any computer unit. She may be younger than Eclair, but Lumiere acts more mature. Lumiere also created an AI unit called Wirbelwind.
Kiddy Grade may have science fiction elements, but it's not what I would consider a "serious" science fiction series. Kiddy Grade includes a number of panty shots of Eclair when she's battling with opponents, and the series also relies a bit on humor and some exaggeration. It's not a bad show, but if you're more interested in "serious" science fiction, then this series probably isn't for you.
Kiddy Grade is definitely not a series being aimed at younger viewers. Personally, I would recommend this series to anime viewers who are 15 or 16 years of age and older.
