Tea Done London Style
Tea Done London Style
For over 100 years, The Claridge's Hotel, located in the heart of London’s shopping district and near the famous Hyde Park serves up afternoon tea.
This award winning hotel has been host to many a super socialite, movie star, or royal. It has also been host to the simple weary traveler. Offering a full five stars, this hotel strives for excellence. The traveler is transferred to a sumptuous world of rich luxury. The Claridge's Hotel also partnered with Diane Von Furstenberg to do the design of a series of rooms.
A tiny bit of the historical background of the hotel is that it seems to have been operating since the year 1854.Then by the year of 1893, however, a very famous man named Richard D’Oyly Carte bought the hotel. He owned the famous Savoy hotel and what was to become the extremely famous store named Harrods. By 1898, the designer of the Harrods department store was also hired to “revamp” the hotel.
Today, the hotel continues to win awards. They win for style, comfort, and the staff’s incredible amount of attention and customer service that is given to each patron of the hotel. One award that certainly caught my eye was not only the award for being the top 100 hotels in the world, it was for their tea!
In 2008 The Claridge's Hotel won the very prestigious award given by The Tea Guild as one the best/top tea places in the world! The hotel offers daily afternoon tea, or tea service to the room. The menu at The Claridge's Hotel for afternoon tea is stylistically British on purpose. The English meals will contain things like savory pastry, sweet pastry, scones and clotted cream.
While there are many teas given throughout the days and in the evenings at The Claridge's, the afternoon tea reins as the most popular. The Claridge's Hotel will put out trays of over 30 teas from the world over. The Claridge's has a traditional apple & raisin scone. And always the trays at The Claridge's Hotel are always served with tea- infused jam, and clotted cream. Yum!
The Claridge's also offers many classes. While vacationing with the family, one can go into the kitchen with the chef of the hotel and listen as he tells you his secrets to some of his very famous menu choices. The Claridge's Hotel also offers a Tea Master Class! In this class one will be taught a myriad of things along with the art of serving tea. The Claridge's offers practical tutorials and your class will be treated to a lunch along with beverages.
The visually stunning hotel and its enticing menu, makes me wish that I’d be traveling to London to have tea at the Claridge's Hotel soon!
