Facebook Family Reunion

Facebook Family Reunion
The social networking structures like Facebook are providing family and friends with the opportunity to find and stay in touch unlike any other media in the past. Facebook allows siblings, aunts, uncles and even long lost cousins a way to connect with family possibly only seen at funerals or reunions.

Imagine finding a long lost love, an old college roommate, or even a biological parent after being adopted at birth. All of these have happened on the internet. Dirk Pratt Googled his name and found a cryptic message from a daughter Francesca that he had been led to believe died 27 years before at the age of two. His daughter had been told her father had died when she was a toddler, but something led her to search for the answers no one would give her.

Nothing can compare to the most recent story of a California mother finding her two missing children through a Facebook search. Apparently the children were taken by their father in 1995. The children were only toddlers at the time and unaware of everything that was happening around them.

The children who were 2 and 3 at the time their father kidnapped them and took them to Florida are now 16 and 17. Faustino Utrera, the children’s father has been arrested and the children are safe with a family friend. Now a reunion is in the works for a mother who never gave up hope in finding her daughter and son. A mother never stops looking for her lost, missing, or abducted child.

In the end it almost has the feel of a fairytale. A mother separated from her children in the early years, never gives up the dream of finding and reuniting with her long lost children. Determined to find them she types in her daughter’s name and finds her profile. The rest they say is history or just the beginning of a whole new life.

Now we wait to see what happens in court as the father faces a trial for kidnapping his children. May justice finally prevail for this family who has lost so many years. Thanks to one social network this family has been given a new start.
