How Sweet The Sound is Back!

How Sweet The Sound is Back!
The Search for the Best Church Choir in America is set to take place this summer. The Verizon How Sweet the Sound™ tour is back for 2010 and your choir or group can be a part of the event.

Last year our own Atlanta West Pentecostal Church Choir showed up and showed out and claimed the first prize. A multi-cultural choir, Atlanta West had the spirit so high in Detroit that there wasn't one person that was not out of their seats and getting their praise dance on by the time they were through. This was after they had competed a year earlier in 2008 and received second place status, much to the chagrin of the ATL home crowd. "We got ripped" could be heard all over Phillips Arena. The fact that the choir who won, Chicago’s Acme Missionary Baptist Church Choir was a good choir was not enough for most people. More people felt that Atlanta West was the sure winner especially when they received the People's Choice Award during the competition. But the judges, Gabriel Union, Marvin Sapp and Hezekiah Walker had other thoughts and awarded the $50,000 prize to ACME. So it was great to see them win last year.

Now it starts all over again and Verizon wants everyone to know that they welcome entire communities and all religious beliefs to be a part of the search for the "Best Church Choir in America".

If the competition is in a city near you make sure you go and check it out. You will enjoy the show.

Here in Atlanta I caught up with several stars who enjoy Gospel music and came out the event including Ne-yo and Monica. Both stated they were very excited to see the choirs and admitted to having a background in the church.

You can check out more about Verizon's How Sweet the Sound™ 2009 at their website. www.howsweetthesound.com

There you can see how the event was a hit across the country. Also here are a few pictures from the Atlanta competition that I attended.

Finally I thought I would add a link to the winning choir's performance. I talked to choir director Brandon Frazier after their win and he stated he was very humbled and honored to receive the win.
