Kings And Corn, In June

Kings And Corn, In June
Helicopter skiing can be considered an amazing vacation in its own right. What could possibly make that trip even more special? Imagine also getting to fish for the famous King salmon of Alaska. A trip like that is available, and fittingly, it’s called Kings and Corn.

Alaska is the premier helicopter skiing destination in the United States. There is no other place that will offer you the expansive views of vast wilderness that Alaska has to offer. At this time of year you can expect each run to be approximately 3,000 vertical feet. The terrain is phenomenal and the guides are there to make sure you have a great, safe time.

Whether you are a seasoned fishing veteran or merely a novice, you will also be truly surprised at the ease of catching fish in this remote location. The helicopter will help you access this unique terrain. If you are not familiar with Kings, they are the largest of the salmon family, averaging 30 to 50 lbs. They are also called, “Chinook Salmon”. Spinning rods are included in the cost of the trip and they are easy to cast, even for a beginner.

The Kings and Corn experience is offered by the Chugach Powder Guides at the Tordrillo Mountain Lodge. Guests first fly into Anchorage and the following day travel by float plane to the Tordrillo Lodge, which is located on Judd Lake and next to the Talchulitna River. They offer five Kings and Corn trips, all of which start in June with the last trip ending after the July 4th holiday.

The following is included in the trip price; lodging and gourmet meals, roundtrip transportation from Anchorage to the Tordrillo Lodge, guided heli-supported King Salmon fishing, corn skiing and rafting, spinning gear and tackle. Not included in the trip cost is; hotel stay the night in Anchorage prior to the trip, fly fishing gear, licenses, waders, ski equipment, alcohol and fish shipping an processing. Upon arrival in Anchorage you will be shuttled to your hotel and the next day you will also be shuttled to your float plane.

If you need a break from the skiing and fishing for a day, this trip also offers a day of whitewater rafting on the Happy River. All river gear is provided and you can experience 20 miles of class III whitewater.
Kings and Corn offers a unique wilderness adventure experience. While it is an expensive endeavor, it is also the trip of a lifetime.
