Hello, and welcome back! The weather is warming up, and the giant moon in the sky last night was incredibly beautiful. Tonight it's officially full, and I can't wait to see it then. It looked a lot like a romance novel setting, with the bright moon shining and the stars twinkling in the sky around it. Very, very pretty. Too bad it brings out the strange people at work. At least they're entertaining.

This time out, I have the second book in Barbara Freethy's 'Angel's Bay' series, On Shadow Beach (Pocket Star, received from publisher). I've been a big fan of Ms. Freethy's work for a long, long time, and she just keeps getting better and better. This time, Lauren Jamison has come home to Angel's Bay when her father with Alzheimer's needs her assistance, but she doesn't intend to stay. She left when her sister was murdered years ago, but the murderer has never been found, though many people still believe her boyfriend Shane Murray killed Abby. Shane is also back in Angel's Bay, still dealing with the whispers of the townsfolk who think he's a murderer, and when he and Lauren meet again, the attraction they felt all those years ago is still as strong as ever. Lauren just wants to move her father back to her home in San Francisco, but he refuses to go, and now that she's back, finding out exactly what happened to her sister becomes a puzzle she really needs to solve. Shane can't share all of his secrets yet, however, which puts the brakes on any chance of a deeper relationship between them. As Lauren digs into the mystery of what happened to her sister, it seems as if Abby's murderer would like that secret kept forever, and Lauren is in serious danger. This one has the added bonus of all the characters we met last year in Suddenly One Summer, along with the emotionally gripping romance between Lauren and Shane, and the tentative relationship between Lauren and her father. I think one of my favorite kinds of stories is a reunion between old lovers, and this one is done just perfectly. Even better, we don't have long to wait for the third book in the series, as it's a May release! I'm borrowing four and a half of Cupid's five arrows for this one.
