Duramed FUTURES Tour 2010
The Duramed FUTURES Tour is starting this week in Florida, this tour consist of young professional golf women who are trying to work their way into the LPGA next year. If they win enough of the 17 scheduled tournaments and also rate high on the money list will be admitted into the LPGA in 2011. It will be interesting to watch which of these 100 golfers from numerous countries will make the grade and become a full professional golfer.
More than 500 alumnae from previous FUTURES Tour tournaments have won their way into the LPGA membership. They have gone on as well to win many LPGA victories and 37 Major championships. By playing on the FUTURES tour makes these golfers much better able to compete and win on the LPGA tour. Twenty FUTURES Tour members earned their right to play in the 2010 LPGA Tour at the Qualifying Tournament held last December.
The first 2010 Duramed FUTURES Tour will start on March 19 to 21st with the Pro-Am held on March 17-18 this week. with a purse of $100,000 with the winner receiving $14,000. Florida’s Natural Growers Foundation will benefit from this tournament called the Florida’s Natural Charity Classic at Lake Region Yacht and Country Club in Winter Haven, Florida. The head Professional at this club is Tony Brabiner.
This is the second year for Winter Haven to host the Duramed FUTURES Tour inaugural Charity Classic Golf Tournament. Jean Reynolds won this tournament last year she is from Newman, Georgia and won with a score of 212 and was -4 under. She won in a three-hole playoff against Song Yi Choi of Seoul, South Korea.
Jean Reynolds said she has very good memories of her first win and in a playoff was very exciting. She mentions that she had a great feeling walking down the last hold and saw her name on the leader board. It is hard to forget those feelings and is so happy she is now on the LPGA tour, it seemed so incredible. Jean went on to win again on the FUTURES tour and was high on the money list.
Being a rookie on the LPGA is awesome for this year and looking forward to the experience. It proves how things can change so fast but she remembers all the nice people she met during her FUTURES tour and she mentioned the family she stayed with and all the people who helped her along the way. She had a bit of advice for any new player to forget about all the things that will make you nervous and just go out and enjoy yourself and play golf. This is an amazing opportunity so give it your best.
The roster of the 2010 Duramed FUTURES Tour has over 100 golfers listed from around the world. I found seven gals from Texas on the full list posted on the FUTURES web site. I will be watching and checking into how the Duramed FUTURES Tour will unfold as it travels around America. I have checked and they will be in San Antonio, Texas in May but since we will be having our Member/Guest Tournament at Mill Creek Golf Club that month I will be working hard on that event.
