Kodocha
Kodocha is an anime based on the manga series by Miho Obana.
The main characters of Kodocha are Sana Kurata and Akito Hayama. Sana is an 11-year-old girl who is an exuberant and outgoing child star. She began her acting career at the Kowamari Theater Troupe, and is starring in a program called Child's Toy at the beginning of the series. Akito, a sullen boy in her class, causes chaos in their classroom at school. Sana sets out on a mission to stop him. But as she comes to learn more about Akito, she starts becoming compassionate toward him.
Akito is a boy of few words who is physically strong. Even though he is capable of being cruel, Akito still has a code of honor. He never lies, and refuses to pretend to be nice to someone he doesn't like. At the beginning of the series, Akito is blackmailing a couple of the teachers at the school with a photograph he has of them. As the series progresses, Sana and Akito discover they have feelings for one another, but when Sana's career flourishes, their feelings are put to the test.
Kodocha is a rather comedic and light-hearted series that employs a couple of different animation styles. However, both animation styles rely on a "cute" look, as well as exaggerated facial expressions and movements. There is also a reliance on bright colors. Content-wise, there isn't anything too terribly offensive in the visuals; however, in the first episode, you're left wondering why this 11-year-old girl is seen in a bed with her adult male manager. Nothing happens between them, but it looks odd to a Western audience.
While there isn't anything really offensive, I still wouldn't recommend Kodocha to young viewers. Personally, I would recommend this series to anime viewers who are 12 or 13 years of age and older.
