Eureka Seven (known as Palms of Planets Eureka Seven in Japan) is a mecha anime series.

Renton Thurston is the main character of the series. He is 14 years old, and is the son of Adroc Thurston, a military researcher who died saving the world. Renton lives with his grandfather, and Renton considers his life and his town to be boring. Renton is into lifting, which is like surfing; however, lifting uses trapar, a substance that is abundant in the air as its medium. His idol is Holland, a legendary lifter who is part of a renegade group called Gekkostate.

One day, a large mechanical robot called the Nirvash typeZERO crashes into Renton’s room. Eureka, the pilot, is a member of Gekkostate. While Eureka is there, her mecha is attacked. After Eureka takes off to battle with her attacker, Renton's grandfather asks him to deliver a special part to the Nirvash. The part is known as the Amita Drive, and it releases an immense dormant power within the mech. After this, Renton is invited to join Gekkostate, and ends up co-piloting the Nirvash typeZERO with Eureka. Other members of the Gekkostate are Stoner (a photographer who writes the group's illegal magazine), Talho (head pilot of the Gekkostate's aircraft), Hap (Holland's childhood friend and second-in-command), Ken-Goh (the weapons specialist), Jobs and Woz (the engineers), Mischa (the resident doctor), Moondoggie (a secondary pilot), Gidget (the communications operator), Hilda and Matthieu (two pilots of the Gekkostate's mecha), and Gonzy (a fortuneteller).

Several themes run throughout Eureka Seven. Racial integration is presented in various relationships in the series, as well as religious tolerance and harmony. There are also allegories of real world conflicts and political climates of the time the series was being produced. There are also themes of parenting, family, "puppy love," personal identity, protection, responsibility, and guilt. Eureka Seven also depicts surf culture, subcultures and their related musical movements, and environmental movements. Some of the mecha that appears in the series bears a strong resemblance to some of the mecha from the Super Dimension Fortress Macross anime series.

There is no obvious blood and gore in Eureka Seven. However, with some of the situations involved in the series, I would recommend Eureka Seven to anime viewers who are 14 or 15 years of age and older.
