This candle cover project can take any plain candle, votive, and make it work for any season, no need to buy expensive candles for each and every occasion. This project even works as a luminary. All it takes is some basic supplies and some vellum.

Materials needed:
• Vellum paper
• Dye ink pads in two or three different coordinating colors
• Pigment Ink
• Chalk Ink
• Rubber stamps
• Embossing Powders in coordinating colors
• Double sided adhesive
• Candle or votive to be covered
• Flame Free
• Ranger Blending Tool
• Heat Gun

Take your candle and gently wrap the vellum around it in order to measure the amount of vellum you need. Take a pencil and mark the vellum when it is wrapped + ¼”. You will need the ¼” overlap in order to adhere the vellum to itself later on. Measure the height of the candle and mark this as well. If you are using a votive or jar you can take your vellum higher than the height of the votive. Cut vellum to size. I used jars and used these to hold tealights in order make luminaries for my sidewalk.



Next, take your dye ink pads and using your blending tool, apply your inks to your vellum. Use two or three colors as desired and blend them together to your liking. Allow to dry. If you want to rush the drying time of the vellum you can use your heat gun. Vellum does take longer to dry than paper as there is some plastic content to it. Once this is completely dry turn your vellum over. This will give you a frosted look to your color.

Stamp your images onto the front side (uncolored) of your vellum with chalk inks that you do not want to emboss. I specify chalk ink for this because it will give you a more opaque look than a dye ink will, and will also dry without using any other material on it as you would have to do with a pigment ink. After you are done with your chalk inks and they have completely dried, stamp your images you wish to emboss with your pigment ink and then cover with embossing powder. Shake off excess and heat with your heat gun.

When you have your design finished, spray both sides of the vellum with Flame Free. This product will help make the paper more heat resistant. Use your double sided adhesive to run from top to bottom on one side of the front of your vellum. Wrap the paper around your candle with the adhesive side closest to the candle. Bring the other side around and adhere this firmly. You now have a seasonal candle cover that will simply slide off of the candle when you are finished with it.
